Boy Meets Void Meta Post
An update on my posting schedule
Hello everyone,
I have been doing some reflecting on how things have been going here on Substack over the past month. I have really enjoyed writing and engaging with everyone, and I hope you all have enjoyed reading!
I have also really appreciated the opportunity to meet new people and read the works of other much more talented writers.
Initially, I set out with the plan to have two posts a week. One on Tuesdays and one on Saturdays. I then decided to add in a third post for my nascent, yet critically acclaimed series, Poetry Sunday.
Recently, I have noticed that my Tuesday posts have been getting many times more views than my weekend posts. This obviously makes sense as you, my lovely audience, have plans on the weekends. Meanwhile, I’m just at home looking at my neighbors like I’m Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window. You don’t necessarily have time to read my hard-hitting essays on hoarding, my favorite film of all time, and my obsessive personality.
Due to this, I have decided to tweak my schedule in order to give my work more time to breathe. This will also help me perfect my posts rather than rushing things out (not that I feel I have done that so far, but at some point that was going to happen).
Going forward I will continue to be releasing new essay-style posts on Tuesday mornings as well as posting on Sunday afternoons for Poetry Sunday. The dedicated Saturday post will be dropped entirely. If for any reason I have something that needs to be posted in a more timely manner, then I will go ahead and post that off schedule.
Thanks again for reading Boy Meets Void. I hope you continue to get even a fraction as much enjoyment from this as I do.
I have multiple essays in the works currently. Since I robbed you of two new posts this week, I will let you in on what they will be about:
How professional wrestling saved my life
A post about the 2016 trend that has turned into a rant about the past ten years
The importance of playing video games with friends
I hope the news of whats to come will help tide you over. Keep an eye out for the new Poetry Sunday post this weekend where I tackle the “Dear Substack” posts I hate so much.

Love the schedule adjustment! I’ve fallen into this trap time and time again. It’s good to know when to step back and pivot before overwhelm consumes you. Looking forward to reading what’s to come!
