Happy to come back to poetry Sunday on a Monday morning! I loved this poem! It was an interesting take on storms, nice job! NY has only had a handful of hurricanes pass over us, Irene and Sandy stick out to me the most, Floyd when I was in elementary school. There was so much rain that my street turned into a river, roads were falling in, it was a mess. But work was closed, and it was fun, until the street water started filling up the basement. It's always fun until it's not
There's definitely a trade-off to it. The fun is in the novelty, but that fun ends quickly when your whole life is turned upside down. I remember watching the aftermath of Sandy on the news. That was a rough one for sure.
Absolutely. The beginning was like wow! I love storms, check this out! And then the water was coming in faster than we could pump it out, the power was lost, and it just kept filling and then it wasn’t fun anymore. We lost just about everything we had in the basement, the washer was floating around, it was a mess. But, as always, it could’ve been worse. Now I look at big storms different, they’re not quite as exciting 😅
first of all, this feels so small world. second of all, Milton was so scary and I was flabbergasted at the Tropicana roof (they took forever to fix it btw) and the first time I drove past it after it happened was surreal. third of all, i love poetry sundays!!!
I'm glad I was able to miss it. The last one I was there for was Irma and that was crazy enough for me! I didn't have power for days after and it was so damn hot.
I'm happy that you are enjoying the series. I was worried it would suck so this is encouraging!

Yep, I would not be as excited or looking back as fondly if that happened to me!
