DBZ wasn't something I ever really got into, I'm not entirely sure why. But Sailor Moon and Pokemon, let's talk haha FYE, that's a good one, but did you ever have a Media Play? That was the first mixed media store I remember. Music, books, games, movies. Ah, I can see the store in my memory. Good times.
I hadn't heard of media play, they must not have had any near me where I grew up! I think the sailor Moon vs DBZ thing comes down to gender. Although I watched both because even at 8 I was progressive as hell!
I also remember Toonami introducing me to Rouroni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho. Saturday mornings brought Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon. Anime has been a key interest of mine throughout my life. I know now that even if someone doesn't like anime, I can probably find at least one they would enjoy. Anime's scope from fighting aliens or giant robots, supernatural murder mysteries, childrens card games, slice of life, to psychological horror, and even just an anime about volleyball. It's just crazy to me how good of a medium anime is for storytelling in general.
Yay, so nostalgic! Goku could possibly be my first anime crush. Or maybe it’s Hell Teacher Nube. Or maybe it’s Rukawa from Slam Dunk. Or Kazuya of Daimos… (I should stop now. lol)
Demon Slayer is soooo good though. And I cried buckets. lol
I've seen slam dunk but haven't seen the other two, I'll have to check those out! My favorites are Future Diary, Kaiji, and I have a soft spot for Haruhi Suzumiya. I actually haven't seen the Demon Slayer movie yet since I was busy with baby stuff when it was in theaters, but I can't wait to watch when they finally release it to stream 😅 The show is just too good, though.
Vegeta was my favorite 🙌🏻✨
Vegeta was great. My actual favorite was Piccolo.
“The green one” Kamehameha… who could ever forget that? ❤️

I completely agree. It does seem to be utilized for way more genres than American cartoons which are either raunchy adult comedies or children's shows
